I’m starting a new full-time day job for a not-for-profit on 13 April.
I’m pretty nervous but excited too.
This has come during a loooong stretch of reflecting on what I prioritise, where I place my attention, and how I share things with the world.
So after 123 weeks in a row, this Substack won’t be weekly anymore.
It’s partly practical but mostly intentional.
And naturally, there’s a part of me that wants to keep going. Yup, pride, ego, the idea of “not breaking the streak.”
Like, what does “the streak” even mean anyway?
I’ve been more consistent than I ever thought I would be. That’s very cool, especially when online writing is daunting at the best of times. But life has moved on and so has my approach.
Plus I talk a lot about not overloading yourself or running on autopilot after years of burning out and using busyness as an epic form of distraction.
So keeping a weekly post going when it no longer fits would be exactly that. As a result, sharing in this space will be less frequent and more considered.
You’ll hear from me when there’s a real desire to write or when there’s something worth saying.
I’m also redesigning my website (still a work in progress): https://sabrinaahmed.com
That’s where more of my writing and offers will live.
But before I settle into that, I want to sense-check a few things.
And if you’ve been reading for a while or just found me, I’d really value your input for this next phase through this poll:
Or skip all of that and reflect on this instead:
What are you keeping going out of habit that doesn’t fit your life anymore?
Take care,
Sabrina
P.S. Thanks for reading and supporting my work, whether you’ve been reading for weeks or years. I don’t take that lightly. So here’s to moving forward together :)

Congratulations, Sabrina! What a wonderful step. I've stopped myself after less than half the time you've spent on writing here, so kudos to your stamina. Your voice and the pics of your foxes haven't quite left me, though, and give me a silent smile every now and then. So keep on writing, I'd say. You have a lot to share, and your new job will surely profit, and I hope you, personally, do too. All the best!
Proud of you for this massive step! I read every post, love everything you write about (if you're interested in it, chances are I will be too!) And probably prefer more thought provoking pieces with questions to ponder and use as a lens to examine specific situations in my life. If that helps 🥰 congrats on the new job! I really wanna hear how that goes too, and what it's like going back into the working world (if you wanna write about it, of course!)
